ROTOtap Technical
World wide tap designs fall into five main mechanical types; horizontally adjusted piston, vertically adjusted piston, rotational valve, ball valve and diaphragm seal. There are also two basic types of pour control; free flow and with compensation. Rotary types are seen as the most beneficial for pouring as they operate by creating a clean conduit between the inlet and outlet so that the beer is allowed to pour continually unrestricted in a straight through flow into the glass.
How ROTOtap works?
The valve mechanism was initially patented in 1998, with improvements patented in 2003 and 2005. The valve works by creating equal force across two opposing PTFE seals which reciprocate within the bore of the tap body. This unique sealing mechanism ensures longer sealing life and easier opening and closing handle movement.

Why is it a benefit?
ROTOtap was developed in response to the latent needs of the brewery industry. Existing taps did not address the total cost of ownership issues and the ongoing cost of servicing and are viewed as disposable items. ROTOtap was developed as a superior lifetime stainless steel constructed body with only one low cost disposable valve assembly. The company believes that by combining the values of lifetime stainless steel with the disposability of the plastic valve, the tap has created a unique position with the international beverage tap market for a new way of thinking about beer taps!
